Atrauman® Ag is a soft, silver-impregnated, non-adherent contact layer designed for chronic and acute wounds at risk of infection, including pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and dehisced surgical wounds. The gentle ointment mesh prevents adherence to new granulation tissue, reduces pain during dressing changes, and provides continuous antimicrobial protection. Atrauman® Ag must be used with a suitable secondary absorbent dressing.
These videos demonstrate usage principles, non-adherence benefits, and clinical handling techniques:
Q1: Does Atrauman® Ag stick to the wound?
A1: No — the ointment mesh prevents adherence and reduces trauma during removal.
Q2: If the patient is already on antibiotics, do I still need silver dressings?
A2: Yes — silver provides local antimicrobial protection and complements systemic therapy.
Q3: Can I cut the dressing? Will cutting reduce its antimicrobial effect?
A3: Yes, it can be cut. Trimming does not affect antimicrobial performance.
Q4: How often should it be changed?
A4: Every 1–3 days, depending on exudate and clinical condition.
Q5: Is it suitable for children or elderly patients?
A5: Generally yes; however, complex or immunocompromised cases should be assessed by a clinician.
👨🦳 Son caring for 78-year-old diabetic father (plantar chronic ulcer)
“My father’s wound used to flare up often due to high bacterial load. After switching to Atrauman® Ag, the redness and inflammation reduced noticeably, and dressing removal stopped causing him pain.
What I appreciate most is its strong antimicrobial effect and flexibility. I can pair it with different secondary dressings depending on the day: Zetuvit® Plus Silicone for heavy exudate, Mepilex® Border Flex when he needs to walk more, and a lighter foam on low-exudate rest days. It’s reliable, gentle, and very easy for caregivers.”
