Aquacel® Ag+ Extra combines Hydrofiber® gelling fibers with More Than Silver™ antibiofilm technology (ionic silver + EDTA + BEC). It rapidly absorbs exudate, forms a conforming gel that locks in bacteria, inflammatory proteins, and debris, while releasing effective silver to help manage infection and resistant organisms. Evidence shows it disrupts, destroys, and helps prevent biofilm re-formation—supporting healing of hard-to-heal wounds (pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, surgical/traumatic wounds, partial-thickness burns). The reinforced construction supports more intact removal and comfortable dressing changes. AQUACEL® Foam is recommended as the preferred secondary cover.

Indications

How to Use
- Cleanse the wound; overlap the dressing at least 1 cm beyond the wound margins.
- Pre-moisten dry wounds with sterile saline; wear time typically up to ~7 days based on exudate and clinical judgement.
- For moderate-to-heavy exudate, use AQUACEL® Foam as the preferred secondary cover (edge seal, comfort, and buffering).

FAQs
Is this dressing suitable for all wounds? Aquacel® Ag+ Extra is suitable for moderate-to-heavy exudate, suspected/confirmed infection, or biofilm-related chronic wounds (e.g., pressure injuries, DFUs, leg ulcers). For dry or minimally exuding superficial wounds, consider pre-moistening or an alternative dressing per clinical judgement.
How often should I change it? Typically 1–7 days depending on exudate and clinical condition. Replace sooner if strike-through or edge leakage occurs.
Can I cut it? Can it be used in cavities? Sheets can be cut to fit. For cavities/tunnels, use the Ribbon format to loosely fill while maintaining an egress for drainage.
What should I use as the secondary cover? We recommend
AQUACEL® Foam for secure fixation and edge seal. For very heavy exudate, consider a super-absorbent secondary cover and compression if clinically indicated.
Known sensitivity to components; completely dry, non-exuding eschar; or wounds requiring urgent surgical debridement. Always follow a healthcare professional’s advice.
