Atrauman® is a polyester mesh contact layer impregnated with neutral triglycerides. Its 1mm pores prevent tissue ingrowth while allowing exudate to pass freely, enabling atraumatic dressing changes. Unlike paraffin gauze dressings such as Jelonet®, Atrauman® leaves less residue, avoids adherence, and ensures cleaner wound healing. Endorsed by the NHS Grampian Formulary as the first-line non-adherent dressing.

Indications

• Skin tears, abrasions, and minor incisions
• Chronic wounds: pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers
• Minor burns and scalds
• Graft donor and recipient sites
• Infected wounds (with appropriate secondary dressing)

Application

1. Open sterile peel pack; cut dressing to size if required.
2. Remove one protective cover, place on wound bed, then remove the second cover.
3. Cover with an appropriate secondary absorbent dressing (e.g., Zetuvit® Plus).
4. Change depending on exudate and clinical assessment; maximum wear time up to 7 days.
