DuoDERM® Hydroactive® Gel

Key Features:

  • Maintains moisture and protection, reducing pain during dressing changes
  • Clear, viscous texture for easy filling and removal

Indications

  • Dry, necrotic, or sloughy wounds
  • Pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers
  • Partially clean wounds with granulation tissue

Directions for Use

  1. Clean the wound with saline and gently dry the surrounding skin.
  2. Apply the gel directly into the wound cavity until level with the skin surface.
  3. Cover with an appropriate absorbent dressing (e.g., DuoDERM® CGF).
  4. Necrotic/sloughy wounds: change every 3 days; clean wounds: up to 7 days.

Recommended Secondary Dressings

  • General absorption: Mepilex® or Biatain® foam dressings
  • Heavier exudate: Aquacel® Extra
  • Risk of infection: Atrauman® Ag or Aquacel® Ag+ Extra antimicrobial dressings

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

► What type of dressing should I use on top?
It is recommended to cover with an absorbent foam dressing (e.g., Mepilex® or Biatain®). If there is infection, use Atrauman® Ag or Aquacel® Ag+ Extra antimicrobial dressings.
► How often should the gel be changed?
For necrotic or sloughy wounds, change every 3 days. For clean granulating wounds, it can stay in place up to 7 days.
► Is it normal to see more exudate after applying the gel?
Yes. During early debridement, increased exudate and slight wound enlargement are normal. If you see signs of infection, consult a healthcare professional promptly.
