The Exudate Challenge

Wound exudate is one of the greatest obstacles to healing. Traditional foams, gauze or nonwoven pads cannot accurately balance fluid levels: too much exudate leads to maceration and tissue damage, while too little dries out the wound bed, causing dressings to stick and painful secondary injuries.

Why Proteases Matter

Excessive protease activity in exudate—when left in contact with surrounding skin—causes maceration, tissue breakdown, swelling and wound enlargement, halting or even reversing the healing process.
